Pop-up Yoga (& Juices) at Good Judys: Community Wellness In Grand Rapids
Calling all yogis! For the past four years, we’ve been hosting pop-up yoga classes right inside Good Judy’s Market. Traditional yoga studios can sometimes feel intimidating, so we wanted to create a more laid-back, welcoming way to practice yoga, connect with the community, and enjoy a fresh juice afterward. Our in-store yoga classes are designed to be approachable, fun, and rooted in community wellness.
What Is the Good Judy’s Pop-Up Yoga Series?
The Good Judy’s Pop-Up Yoga Series is a monthly, in-store yoga experience led by local yoga instructor Nicole Hensch of Nicole Hensch Yoga. These pop-up yoga classes are intentionally accessible, modifiable, and inclusive for all bodies and experience levels.
Where else can you practice yoga under a disco ball, in the middle of a juice bar, alongside some of the coolest people in the community? Our pop-up yoga classes blend movement, music, and good vibes—making wellness feel fun instead of intimidating.
Why We Host Yoga in Our Store
Yoga and cold-pressed juices, smoothies, and plant-based foods naturally go hand in hand—but our passion for wellness goes much deeper. Good Judy’s co-owner Dean has been part of the Grand Rapids yoga community for over two decades and taught yoga locally for more than 12 years. That’s how he met Nicole—they completed their first yoga teacher training under the same instructor. But wellness at Good Judy’s is truly a shared passion. Co-owner Connor played Division I soccer in college and now works as a Physician Assistant, bringing a deep understanding of movement, recovery, and the importance of a holistic approach to health and wellness. His background in both athletics and healthcare helps shape our commitment to accessible, well-rounded wellness experiences for the community.
Hosting pop-up yoga at Good Judy’s Market allows us to:
Pay yoga teachers a fair, livable wage
Make yoga and wellness experiences more accessible
Share our long-standing love of yoga and movement
Foster meaningful community connections
Our goal is to create a space where wellness feels inclusive, supportive, and community-driven.

Meet Nicole Hensch(Your favorite yoga instructor’s favorite yoga instructor)
Nicole and I go way back — like “we’ve been doing this together since the dawn of time” back or like back when I used to have hair — which is exactly why partnering with Nicole was a no-brainer from day one. Nicole’s approach to yoga is never one-size-fits-all. She has an incredible ability to read the room and adapt a flow in real time so everyone feels supported, seen, and challenged in the right ways.
Her attention to detail, deep understanding of body awareness, and thoughtful cueing are truly next-level. We trust her completely — and that trust comes from experience. Nicole has navigated her own injuries, works closely with high-performance athletes, and also supports students of all ages and abilities through her private sessions. Whether it’s your first class or your fiftieth, you’re in very good hands with her. I had the honor of interviewing Nicole so that you could get to know her a bit better and learn about her style of teaching yoga here in Grand Rapids.
What’s one thing more people are often surprised by in your classes?
That they’re genuinely not intimidating—and that I don’t take myself too seriously. I’ve felt intimidated in studio settings before (even as a yoga instructor), so I’ve made it my mission to create a space where everyone feels welcome, comfortable, and at ease from the moment they walk in.
If someone’s on the fence about coming to class, what would you tell them to convince them to roll out a mat and show up?
What could be better than starting your Saturday with a beginner-friendly but still juicy yoga flow, a great playlist, and your favorite fresh-pressed juice waiting for you right after class? You can hang out and vibe for a bit or grab your juice to go. It’s also a really fun class to come to with a friend or partner—no pressure, just good movement and good energy.
How does teaching yoga in a retail space like Good Judy’s change the vibe of a class?
On a practical level, there’s definitely some creative maneuvering to make space for mats! But vibe-wise, it keeps everything light-hearted and fun. Practicing yoga under a disco ball in Good Judy’s beautiful space feels special every time. I’m so grateful to work alongside Dean, Connor, and their amazing crew—it truly adds to the magic.
Did you know?
Dean taught yoga next door at Yoga Fever for over 4 years? Before that, you could catch his classes at Frederick Meijer Gardens, Fzique, MVP, Seva, and tons of fundraising events. He was even a lululemon ambassador!
